East Bank Medical Centre opens

The new East Bank Medical Centre in Sheffield which will be home to the Northern Avenue Surgery has opened, with a new Lloyds Pharmacy also opening on the site.

GP Surveyors has been involved with the new surgery development from the start of the project, undertaking work such as sourcing the new land, helping to secure PCT approval and helping to implement the pharmacy.

The relationship with Northern Avenue Surgery first started when GP Surveyors was instructed to negotiate an uplift in Notional Rent for the practice and soon after discussions began regarding the new development.

Work began to find a suitable site for the development and ascertain what the existing surgery was worth as an alternative use. Once a suitable site had been identified, approval was sought from the PCT which was granted in 2008.

Sharon Turner, Practice Manager at East Bank Medical Centre says: "GP Surveyors has been a constant source of information for the practice with consultation for the development."

Chris Johnson, Director at GP Surveyors says “It is great to see the new medical centre open. It will be a valuable resource for the local community, and the additional space means that the practice can offer a range of new specialist services. From our perspective the project is a good example of the range of services we can offer to GPs to help them through the process of a new surgery development”.
